How many bikes can a bike hangar hold?

Capacity depends on more than just width

The capacity of a bike hangar depends on its width and the parking system it uses. Most standard hangars hold between four and six bikes, but how comfortably they achieve that, and what types of bikes they can accommodate, varies considerably between products.

The patented Fietshangar high-low parking system staggers bikes at different heights so handlebars do not clash.

Fietshangar dimensions and capacity

Fietshangar is available in two sizes. The Fietshangar 1.8 is 183 centimetres wide and holds approximately four bikes. The Fietshangar 2.5 is 255 centimetres wide and holds approximately six bikes. Both are 230 centimetres long and 150 centimetres tall, fitting comfortably within a single car parking space.

What sets Fietshangar apart is its patented high-low parking system. Bikes are parked at staggered heights, so handlebars do not clash and users can wheel bikes in and out without lifting or navigating around others. This makes the stated capacity achievable in practice, not just in theory.

The Fietshangar 2.5 holds up to six bikes, including e-bikes and two-person bikes up to 2.1 metres long.

E-bikes and larger bikes

Fietshangar accommodates bikes up to 2.1 metres long, including e-bikes and two-person bikes. Many storage units on the market quote capacity for standard bikes and cannot practically fit the longer or wider bikes that are increasingly common.
