Over the coming weeks, the municipality of Scandicci will take an important step toward sustainabile and accessible urban mobility by installing ten Fietshangar units throughout the city. This pilot marks a significant milestone: the first shared, neighbourhood bicycle parking initiative of its kind in Italy.

Across Europe, secure bicycle parking has proven to be a key enabler of cycling. We’re proud that Fietshangar has been selected as the trusted infrastructure partner for this pioneering project.

Collaboration for Everyday Bike Storage

The initiative brings together Fondazione CR Firenze, LegaCoop, and Biclò to promote practical, everyday cycling. This collaboration has publicly presented shared bike lockers demonstrate the growing need for secure bike storage in Italian cities. Each unit provides storage for 6 bikes, showing how municipalities and organisations can work together to enable sustainable mobility.

Smart, Accessible, and Expanding

Residents access the parking via the Biclò app, unlocking them with a QR code for fast, secure bike storage. With storage for 6 bikes in each unit near homes, workplaces, and public transport, cyclists save time and gain peace of mind. Usage data and feedback will guide future expansion, making bike lockers a vital part of mobility infrastructure.
