A new programme for residential bike storage

Dublin is expanding its secure cycle parking with a new programme rolling out BikeBunkers across the city. For anyone in terraced housing or an apartment without indoor storage, this means secure, covered bike parking on your street for 100 euros per year.

Dublin City Council has contracted Bleeper to deliver, install, and maintain up to 300 units across residential neighbourhoods. The pilot saw every unit fully subscribed. Residents can register interest via bikebunkers.ie, with locations prioritised by demand and available public space.

The unit behind the programme

Fietshangar is the unit behind the BikeBunkers programme in Dublin. Developed and manufactured in the Netherlands, it has been installed in over 1,100 locations in Rotterdam alone and is built for outdoor year-round use: weatherproof, lockable, and designed to handle e-bikes up to 2.1 metres long.

Fietshangar carries the only anti-theft certification of its kind in the market: SKG-IKOB KE 470, alongside the Dutch Police Keurmerk. No other outdoor bike storage product holds both.
